Historical landmark restoration
Construction on the Ernst- Reuter- House began in 1940 and was completed in 1951 after the conclusion of the second world war. The building is listed as a single monument in Berlin’s historical preservation list.
Originally built for the German municipal government’s council, various tenants have occupied the premises. With a new tenant, the Federal Agency for Real Estate, the building was completely refurbished for the exclusive use by the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning.
Existing office space was partially restructured and previously unused areas were activated by the creation of new office space.
During the refurbishment hazardous building substances had to be removed from the building and full concrete restoration was performed on the original concrete roof.
The building’s original decoration consisting of representative stucco ceilings, parquet floors, interior doors and cupboards was maintained and carefully renovated.
All measures were carried out in close coordination with the local historical preservation authorities.
